This story  was saying how play writes a very different from other works of literature. Everything that happens in a play write is significant Make characters in the play significant and while creating them to work within what you think  the character should and shouldn't be like How do people dress on stage shows how plot can be part of the play Climate Mountains or valley. All this staging goes into the play What kind of conflict do you want in the play ? Does weather play a effect? These are all the questions that need to be asked when making a play

Blog 7 10 Characters and Items

In class today we composed a list of the 10 most important characters in Romeo and Juliet. Without these characters, and objects they posses the play would miss key symbols, and scenes. Romeo would have a cheap ring to present to Juliet. It would be no where near as glamorous as the ring Paris would have, but ultimately Juliet would choose Romeo, and his ring because of the genuine love for one another. Juliet would carry with her a knife to show her  inevitable death at the end of the play, due to Romeo and Juliet never being able to be together. This knife symbolizes the end of their love, and the start of the peacemaking between the Montague's and Capulets. Friar Lawerence would have a Rubik's cube, because it symbolizes his identity. He can be unclear and decisive. He tells Romeo to have patcients one minute, and then tells him to go comfort Juliet the next. Many times in th...

Meaty Paragraph Romeo Juliet who's at Fault?

The Montague, and Capulet households are at fault for the separation between Romeo and Juliet, because the feud between the two families. Romeo and Juliet is a tragic love story where two star crossed lovers kill themselves because they cannot be together.  It has been an issue for generations. We learn this early from the prologue when the Chorus says, "From ancient grudge break to new mutiny." This is talking about the feud going back to ancient times, and how the newly founded love that Romeo and Juliet have is opposed from it. In the first scene of the play, two servants from both households start a fight that catches the Prince of Verona's attention. This feud is the main issue of Romeo and Juliet not being able to be together. Juliet constantly feel this pressure from her parents to be married off to Paris, even when she is married to Romeo she does not tell her parents because of the feud. Therefore it is both Romeo and Juliet's families that are fault for the...

Les Misérables Made Me Miserable

Les Misérables Made Me Miserable  On the night of October 9th, I tried to watch Les Misérables written by Claude-Michel Schönberg, and Alain Boublil. I got about 30 minutes into the movie before I turned it off in disgust. I for one hate musicals with a heated passion. I had a predetermined  view of  how terrible the movie was actually going to be, before I started watching it. It was incredibly hard for me to watch. I was bias from the start, and you can understand why. The following night I buckled down, and mentally prepared myself to get though the next 2 hours of my life in agony. The movie starts out with prisoners docking a ship while singing the song "Look Down." Javert who is the prison guard is over watching from the ledge of the ship. We are then introduced to prisoner 24601, who is the protagonist of the play. His name is Jean Valijean.  He has been inprisoned for the past 19 years for stealing a loaf of bread, and trying to escape prison mu...

In Class Writing 10/10

Part one -- In Act 3 Scene 1 who is really responsible for Mercutio’s death: Mercutio, who provoked the fight, Tybalt who stabbed him, or Romeo who got between them? Use specific evidence (direct quotes) from the play to back this up.  Part two -- How would you stage this as a director? Be specific. Act 3 scene 1 is the turning point in the play.   Mercutio is responsible for his own death, because Tybalt came into the scene looking to only fight Romeo. If Mercutio hadn't been in the scene he would  have lived.  Once Romeo enters Tybalt says to Mercutio, "Well, peace be with you, sir, my man is here." This means that Tybalt has no business in wanting a fight with Mercutuio. But when Mercutuio draws first and says "O calm, dishonorable, vile submission! All staccato caries it away. Tybalt, you rat catcher, will you walk?" he proves to be an obstacle by instigating a fight that includes himself, and Romeo. ...

Blog 6 Friar Lawrence the Peacekeepers

Friar Lawrence is in my perspective a peacekeeper in my opinion . He is a wise, and knowledgeable. His character is kind character, and really wants to keep the best version. Through the play he is viewed as a positive community figure as well as someone to look up to. Since he is in fact a priest Romeo went to ask Friar Lawrence for a very big favor. This favor was if he could marry Romeo to his beloved Juliet. When Romeo came to his cell for Friair Lawrence to marry him and Juliet, Friar lawerence calmed Romeo down. He was very anxious and up tight the first time he approached friar about the marriage. When Friair agreed to marry the two it took a huge burden off of Romeo. Now he felt at peace and happy that he would marry his love Juliet. When they did get married Friar again got Romeo to calm down, but once Juliet entered the scene he was all distraught again. At first Friar Lawrence said, "Holy Saint Francis, what a change is here! Is Rosaline, whom thou didst love so dear,...

Blog 5

I felt if I were to put on a production of  Romeo and Juliet, I would start the opening scene off with distugihsing the Capulets from the Montagues right away. I would do this with the colors of the clothing but the type of clothing would be the same to show equal social classes. They are very similar in wealth and social status but the two are complete opposites of each, and are sworn enemies. I would show this by having the Capulets being dressed in fine white clothes, and the Montagues in fine black clothes.  The colors difference would distingus themselves being polar  opposites. Also, both Montague and Capulets would speak in perfect Sheakesperian language, but one family could have a distinct dialect to show difference between the two groups as well. When staging I would have the Capulets and Montague on separate sides of the theater, only converging when the fight scene come into play or the end when they make amends. This would show diverson. When the Montagues...
