R & J Act 2 Notes



Scene 1
After everyone starts to leave the Capulet ball, Romeo decided to stay on the Capulet property so he can talk to Juliet
He ditches Mercutio and Benvolio
They go looking for Romeo
they start making fun of Rosaline in effort to reveal Romeo in anger to give up his location
it doesn't work so they end up leaving


Scene 2
Romeo goes around the Capulet yard until he sees Juliet on the balcony
Juliet talks unaware to Romeo being there
She goes on about how she loves Romeo, and why does he need to be capulet
"O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?'
Romeo listens until he makes himself apparent to Juliet 
She is embarrassed and the two talk
They talk for a while about how they love each other and Juliet wants to be with him but only if the two marry. once Romeo senses they have been talking in circles and Juliet was about to leave, Romeo at the end proposes and this is what Juliet wanted him to do
Romeo then leaves to find Friar Lawerence so the two can be married

Scene 3
When he finds Friar Lawrence, he is picking herbs that could be deadly if not used correctly
   -Foreshadowing
Romeo pretty much asks him to marry him and Juliet
Friar is shocked, because he knew Romeo loved Rosaline, but he agrees because he thinks it could settle the feud between the two families

Scene 4
Mercutuo and Benvolio start out talking about Romeo who they still haven't seen since he disappeared
They talk about how Tyblat wants to fight him
When Romeo shows up he is feeling like the man
He is happy and over talks about how again he is in love but now the girl loves him back
The nurse comes to meet up with Romeo
Mercutio play flirts and makes fun of the nurse
The nurse pulls Romeo away from the two, and approves of the Romeo and Juliet being married
Romeo tells the nurse to tell Juliet to meet him at Friar Lawernce's cell


Scene 5
Juliet awaits for the nurse return with the message
She is very eager
The nurse doesn't tell her right away but once Juliet gets impatient she does say to Juliet to  meet Friar Lawrence and Romeo in the cell so the two can get married


Scene 6
Romeo is feeling really happy in the beginning of the scene
Friar tells him to pretty much calm down
Once Juliet arrives Romeo is all over her
Once they marry they go onto there honeymoon phases and the Act is over

Footloose Review of Winter Musical

On Wednesday night February 27th, I decided to attend the Cheshire Academy varsity production of the musical "Footloose" in the black box theater. This was a dress rehearsal for the actual performance that took place on the first weekend of March. "Footloose" was written by Dean Pitchford, and Walter Bobbie in 1998. An interesting fact about "Footloose" is that the musical came out after the movie in 1984. Many times it is the movie that is made after the book or play. For the Cheshire Academy production, notable cast members included: Tony Wang, Olivia Williamson, Aaron Luo, along with 10 graduating seniors. "Footloose" is a musical play that many high school students can relate to. Ren McCormack is a teen from Chicago, who doesn't really fit in anywhere. My Love, My Love or The Peasant Girl

Setting: Caribbean Island Island: Jewel of the Antilles Rich- don't believe in Gods/modernized/French  Peasants people- old ways/religion rural setting/workplace for most likely slaves Characters: Asaka- godess of earth and all growing things Agwe- God of sea and all the waters M. Bienconnu- the village centenarian, who is a older women Ti Moune-  Désirée (real name) An african orphan girl who is dreaming of cars and possibly a way out of this life she is limited to now. Real parents stuck her in the mango tree and they died Mama Euralie-Peasant, adopted mother and believes that Désirée is a gift from the Gods to her Tonton Juliet- Peasant, adopted father, who does not want to take the burden of a child. But he does love her Plot: Chapter 1: There are two classes of people living on the island but chapter 1 brings mostly aspects of the peasant way of life. In class writing 5-7

Something that made each poetry recital unique is the performance and interpretations each actor had for their poems. Poetry is very adaptive and can be recited in many ways. For example, Leslie and Nan’s performances really stood out to me becuase they chose to sing verses of their poems. The music they chose had no relation to the original poem, but they made it flow as if the poem was perfect for the song. Their performances turned out great, and were by far my favorites of the class! Jack’s recital and performance I felt was kind of dry. He displayed very little movement on stage, and he was very hard to hear. Both of these things effective his overall performance negatively.
