4-29 Poems Analysis

Emily Dickerson Poems and Analysis  Wild nights - Wild nights! (269)  Launch Audio in a New Windo BY  EMILY DICKINSON Wild nights - Wild nights! Were I with thee Wild nights should be Our luxury! Futile - the winds - To a Heart in port - Done with the Compass - Done with the Chart! Rowing in Eden - Ah - the Sea! Might I but moor - tonight - In thee! Analysis: Sharing nights with a crew on a ship or boat on the sea. It sounds like the poet cares about these people and it gives me the feeling that you should cherish those times with those who are important in your life by sharing wild nights. Wild nights could be referring to numerous things. The bonding that takes part on the ship or just the weather in itself. The power of the  ocean that many pieces of poetry refer to as "wild" so Dickerson could be doing something similar like that here. I felt a Funeral, in my Brain, (340) BY ...

500 Word Blog Post 4-14

In My Love, My Love, or The Peasant Girl , the peasant people of the island look up to the Gods as a source of hope and guidance. They pray to them for the well being of their people, crops and the islanders will only follow paths that they believe the God's lead them down. Through the polytheistic believes of the islanders we are introduced to 4 Gods that all play impotant roles in the book. Agwe the God of the sea, Erzulie the goddess of love, Asaka the goddess of the Earth and all growing things, and Papa Gé who is an angle of death. In the text of the book, each God or goddess is described vividly. All of the God's have the power to rave havoc on the people or bring them joy. In the early chapters of the book, we see a great storm which is brought down from Agwe who is displeased. The storm kills many including Ti Moune's biogolcial parents. "Agwe sometimes unleashed to devote fields, flood roads, and sweep everything out of the sea."  In chapter 2 there...

In Class Writing 4/2

a) How would you costume Désirée to show both member of peasants and different outsider/special/dreamer? b) costume--> connections with other characters Gods? Rich? Mama E.? To show Désirée in her fullness on stage, I would have her in common robes that I picture the people of her village wearing. These cloth robes would be homemade from simple material, and they would act as a symbol of poverty. However, I would give Désirée an elegant pair of shoes that her mother needed to save up for a long time in order to buy them for her. This would counteract act her status as just a normal peasant. On stage the shoes would be noticeable, maybe a bright or exotic color. Many villagers would always bring them up when talking to Désirée. The shoes would symbolize her desires to leave/walk away from her current status as someone who is poor, and try to make something greater out of her life. The shoes would be enough to separate herself from the common villager, but would be not n...
