Act 3 Notes 10/16

Scene 1
Mercutio and Bevolio are hanging out 
Tybalt comes into the scene looking for Romeo so he can get revenge 
Romeo comes in the scene and doesn't want to fight 
Tybalt comes at Romeo anyway which stars a fight to break out
Mercutio dies in the fight when Tybalt kills him
Mercutio says "A plague on both your houses," this means he never approved of Romeos love and died anger at Romeo
Romeo driven with rage kills Tybalt 
He needs to vanish from Verona before the Prince comes 
Benvolio tells the prince what happened 
Lady Capulets says she wants Romeo dead
The prince says since Romeo didn't start the fight he won't die but he needs to be vanished from Verona


Scene 2
Juliet hasn't heard of the murder yet
the nurse comes to tell her 
Juliet is mad at first 
but then Juliet disagrees with the Nurse and justify that Romeo did what he needed to do to protect himself against Tybalt 
Juliet is then upset that Romeo has been vanished 
The nurse tells Juliet that Romeo isn't gone yet he is hiding in Verona at Friar's
The Nurse promises to after Romeo's so her and Romeo can share there love 

Scene 3
Romeo is with Friar and he is telling Romeo what is going on in Verona 
The nurse comes to Friar's door step
Friar says he can give Romeo and Juliet one more night together 
Romeo gets happy after hearing the plan and goes to see Juliet.

Scene 4
Lord Capulet Lady Capulet and Paris are in this scene 
Lord Capulets says Juliet is extremely upset about Romeo's banishment and Tybalt death
Lord Capulet does not know about her marriage with Romeo 
Lord Capulet decides the best way to get over the death of her cousin is to marry Paris
On next Thursday  
His view on Juliet getting married to early changes, and he goes announcing that Juliet will be married next week on THURSDAY. 
Paris and Lord Capulet are happy Lady Capulet doesn't seem so happy and goes to tell Juliet about the marriage 


Scene 5
Romeo and Juliet have one night left together 
They talk about how if Romeo was seen in Verona he would be dead 
The nurse enters and warns that Juliet's mother is coming
Romeo leaves after kissing Juliet 
Then Lady Capulet tells Juliet about how she is gonna be married off to Paris
She doesn't want to be married off to Paris, and hints that she loves Romeo her mother doesn't catch on to this at all
When Lord Capulet comes into the scene he starts yelling at Juliet and threatens to throw her out of his house if she doesn't marry Paris 
Lady Capulet feels for Juliet but neither her or the nurse can do anything for her 
Juliet has even lost the nurse that is not on her side anymore
She only has Friar Lawrence to turn to

Footloose Review of Winter Musical

On Wednesday night February 27th, I decided to attend the Cheshire Academy varsity production of the musical "Footloose" in the black box theater. This was a dress rehearsal for the actual performance that took place on the first weekend of March. "Footloose" was written by Dean Pitchford, and Walter Bobbie in 1998. An interesting fact about "Footloose" is that the musical came out after the movie in 1984. Many times it is the movie that is made after the book or play. For the Cheshire Academy production, notable cast members included: Tony Wang, Olivia Williamson, Aaron Luo, along with 10 graduating seniors. "Footloose" is a musical play that many high school students can relate to. Ren McCormack is a teen from Chicago, who doesn't really fit in anywhere. Setting: Caribbean Island Island: Jewel of the Antilles Rich- don't believe in Gods/modernized/French  Peasants people- old ways/religion rural setting/workplace for most likely slaves Characters: Asaka- godess of earth and all growing things Agwe- God of sea and all the waters M. Bienconnu- the village centenarian, who is a older women Ti Moune-  Désirée (real name) An african orphan girl who is dreaming of cars and possibly a way out of this life she is limited to now. Real parents stuck her in the mango tree and they died Mama Euralie-Peasant, adopted mother and believes that Désirée is a gift from the Gods to her Tonton Juliet- Peasant, adopted father, who does not want to take the burden of a child. In class writing 5-7

Something that made each poetry recital unique is the performance and interpretations each actor had for their poems. Poetry is very adaptive and can be recited in many ways. For example, Leslie and Nan’s performances really stood out to me becuase they chose to sing verses of their poems. The music they chose had no relation to the original poem, but they made it flow as if the poem was perfect for the song. Their performances turned out great, and were by far my favorites of the class! Jack’s recital and performance I felt was kind of dry. He displayed very little movement on stage, and he was very hard to hear. Both of these things effective his overall performance negatively.
