CH 3-5 Notes

Analyse:

Désirée is walking though the woods and she finds a crashed car. At first she is happy that she is finally touching a car
She then realizes that there was a man in the car who is badly injured.
She begins to panic and tries to find help
The nearby peasants find the man and take him back to the village to help the man reluctantly
This man comes from money and is not one like the peasants
They take him to the cabin of Bienaimé where she tries to heal the man
She is not willing to argue with the God's will however and she believes if it is the mans time to die the man will die
Désirée however promises to herself that she will not allow this to happen
After many days go by the peasants grow concerned that the man will die in their village
Tonton Julian and M. Bienaimé try to go out of the village to get the attention of the outside world and say where the man is
They think he is a creole boy and that he is quite rich
The man starts to get a bad infection (maybe gangrene) on his leg. The villagers become really worried especially Madame Bonsanté who is the healer that the man will die.
Désirée conforts the man greatly laying with him and warming him at night
He grows more ill everyday he is in the village and is referred many times at "half-dead"
Désirée keeps insisting that "He must not die!" she drains the pus from his leg and goes to extreme lengths to try to make the man comfortable.
She loves him
A great rain storm comes which limits the search for the man.
Water makes it impossible for people to contact the outside world or even leave there village
Désirée one night with the man says that the window blows open and she sees "Papa Gé" the angel of death but she again shields the man
When things looks its bleakest the storm breaks and a helicopter is able to get into the village
The boy's father takes a look at his son and is amazed that he is still alive. The boys name is Daniel Beauxhomme
The father thanks Mama Euralie and says that Julian is an intelligent and good man
The visit took less than 10 minutes
Toton returns days later and Désirée is sad that her love left
