2/7/19 Reflexion of Performance

When watching the final production of our group's scene, there were some notable improvements in the execution of it. Our peers thought it was great performance and we felt confident in ourselves afterwards also. From our previous run-throughs our group's acting improved dramatically, and we used a lot more emotion and movements on stage that were previously lacking. These fixes were necessary in order to make our performance better. In our early rehearsals, everything seemed robotic, and nothing was fluid. We worked hard to fix these problems and struggled at first, but when it came time to put it all together for the final production, we were able to pull it off and make something that was really good for the entire class to enjoy.

Our previous rehearsals of our scene were dry. There was very little interaction with the actors and it almost seemed as if we were reciting lines on stage, and not really acting. Physical contact and interactions between characters was something that I thought we needed to do a better job on for the final production. In the final production whether the scene was portraying something serious, sad, in disagreement of, or encouragement, We tried our best to engage one another with physical interactions. We added: slaps, arms around shoulders, pats on the back, and holding hands with other actors in order to better sell the scene as something genuine.  The props and set pieces were setup in a way that allowed us to utilize the entire stage. I thought our stage was setup perfect for what our scene needed to be. Center stage was where most critical scenes took place, and the the lighting was a great indicator for the audience to be able to know when the scene was set as a dream by the blue lighting compared to the regular lighting for reality.

I do feel that blocking and volume projection could have been better. There were a couple of scene where actors struggled to be heard, and with making their own movements appear visually pleasing. Something to always keep in while acting is that the camera is always watching. I noticed that many of us swayed back and forth which showed that we may have been nervous. Another example of blocking that could be improved is when Helen and I both didn't know where each one was going, and we actually circled each other for a moment. This may have made it seem awkward from the audience's vantage point. Aside from that there were some other small improvement that could have been made. The bow at the end was also poorly executed. However, our group did in fact come a long way from where we first started and I was proud to be a part of it.
