Rewatching our groups performance, we all came up with some good ideas on what to improve on for the next go around. With a new due date quickly approaching, there is now a sense of urgency to improve quickly. Our group has the foundation of what our scene should be, but the actual performance lacks creativity, entertainment, structure, and overall idea of the direction in which characters need to show through emotion on stage.
There were several long pauses during our scene where actors struggled with cues and remembering lines. In one of the last scenes where Little Guy comes on after Lili killed herself, she is not supposed to be present on stage. During another scene it takes forever for the Angel and Guy come on. The blocking was poorly executed with many major characters and scenes all taking place in the back of the stage. The full stage was never utilized by any of the actors. One thing that could help with the staging can be improved by moving the table into the center of the stage. Emotion is something our group greatly struggled with. Each character struggled with trying to portray the emotions there characters were supposed to feel in each scene. Interactions between characters felt very dry and failed to keep an audience engaged in what was happening on stage. There needs to be a focus on improving the props that we used. For the last scene Lili should not kill herself with a water gun. With many things to improve on, there were however a few bright spots with our foundation. The length is adequate, and both lighting and sound effects were good. Yes, we need to improve in order to send our final performance to the IB but I strongly believe our group is more than capable and will improve significantly.
