IA Proposal

My proposal for my IA is a scene in the story, Night Women from the book Krit Krat I will be hoping to highlight the mother's hope for a better life, and hate for her job throughout this scene. There will be three characters in my adaptation, and I will need three actors to play each part. The characters in the scene are the mother, son, and Angel. I believe this scene would be interesting to put on stage because of the many adaptations we talked about in class. There are numerous possibilities for this scene and I feel that my adaptation covers a lot of the points we made in class.

The scene starts with mother in her room behind a light red curtain. We can see the mother's shadow through the curtain because it will be thin and bright light will be focused on it. The red symbolizes the hate the mother has for her night job and it also acts as a visual block for the audience's view of her room. The mother just finished having sex with one of her customers. This will not be shown on stage, however the audience will be able to piece this information together because we will see her shadow putting clothes on.Once she is dressed, she will leave her bedroom. She will then head over to the kitchen table and put the money her earned in a jar. She then will go to lay with her son. While she is laying down, the son will wake up. He will start questioning his mother about her job, the angels, and when his father will come back into their lives. She answers him as honest as she can, explaining what she does for living and that she hopes for a better life for him and herself one day. Once the two drift asleep, the lighting on stage will turn to blue and an angel will appear. The angel will starts singing a song that enlightens hope as it watches over the mother and boy. Once the angel is done sining, the lights will fade off, and the scene will be over.
